Unfortunately at this point with you having 4 missed games and 1 your fault and Lee having 3 missed games and 2 his fault a decision has to be made.

What usually happens is the team that does the latest fail is removed. However, if I do that it feels unfair as it means the team that missed two gains on a team that misses one.

However, if I let the team that missed last but missed less progress instead then it makes it possible for managers in the same position in the future to "accidentally" miss a catch up game to eliminate their opponent.

In the circumstances I feel the only fair thing is for both sides to be removed and the group decided on the two matches between the other two sides.

Hope this doesn't annoy either of you too much, you managed to create a scenario we haven't had in the previous 30 comps !

So the group is down to two and all groups and fixtures will be confirmed this morning with the second round starting next week.

The problem is a team is only protected against elimination if they have missed zero games down to them (hence you surviving when you had 3 failed games - the cut off - and none were your fault). That has always been the rule, just that yourself and Lee found a new way to get there this season.

Usually after a tie over 2 legs after including away goals two legged ties are determined by who did better in the group stages (unless it is the semi-final or final).

However, with one team ending up in a 2 team group that clearly can't be done fairly so there will be a sudden death play off next week.
