This is the first of what will become an annual tournament if there is sufficient interest in it.
The deadline for receiving entries is midday on the 16th August. The draw for the first round will be made after this and will be posted on the forum by midday on Friday 17th August. Managers will then have until midday the following Friday (24th) to send their first selections in. Each subsequent round will be posted on the forum upon completion of the previous round with the deadline being the subsequent Friday at midday.
To enter the competition please just post a brief message on this topic stating which team(s) are taking part and what their ID codes are.
There is no entry fee and no prize for winning except the glory of gloating about being the best youth team in Soccer Star
The competition is open to EVERYONE from EVERY LEAGUE – there are no restrictions on entries. The only thing all managers have to remember is that to take part they must use the Extra Time program. This is a small program that you download onto your computer and you pick your team on it. You then send the completed entry to myself. Once returned to myself from Glynn you will receive a text file from myself which contains your game which you can then play on the extra time program.
There are no exceptions to this basic rule. All entries have to be made using the program so if you are unable to run the program (it will run on all computers but those with only work access to the internet may find their employers do not allow programs to be downloaded) please do not enter. If you have questions about the program you should find the answers you need in the FAQ section of extra time.
Managers may pick
ANY YOUTH PLAYERS players from their squad. iF THE SEASON ENDS DURING THE TOURNAMENT PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR GAMES AFTER THEY TURN 18. You may not pick players on loan to your team(s) – only players that are owned by the participating club.
SENDING IN ORDERS
All entries have to be sent to myself at
rich@charscot.co.uk and NOT to glynn. Any entries not received by each week's deadline of friday midday will be deemed to have forfeited and no exceptions will be made as glynn will be running most games over each weekend.
Early entries each week will be appreciated and when both halves of a tie are received satisfactorily they will be forwarded to glynn so some matches will hopefully be played before each weekend. Consequently with any luck we will have matches being played throughout the week rather than just the weekend.
Upon receipt of entries I will confirm that they are in my possession and how many teams selections I have received. If you haven’t received a receipt then I haven’t got your teams !
Please avoid sending in your orders from a hotmail account. Hotmail for some reason hates text files (fine by me as I hate hotmail back Smile ) and entries sent this way never arrive in one piece.
When putting your own name into the program please follow this with (RDG) exactly as written ie with the brackets to differentiate between any other tournaments that may be running at the same time so in the case of myself with charscot I would type in their code and then on the next screen I would type Rich Grove (RDG).
No selections can be used repeatedly for subsequent rounds – ALL entries have to be sent anew each week – there will be no exceptions to this as I do not have the time to be editing entries and it is unfair on those managers that take the time to do their selections each week.
Entries may be sent in early if going away on holiday.
It is advisable to try to use an e-mail client that isn’t hotmail if possible as last year there were some issues with files being corrupted through hotmail.
ROUNDS AND RESULTS
Each round will last exactly one week irrespective of the number of games played.
I will return all text files for matches completed as soon as I receive them from Glynn.
Results will be posted here in this topic along with fixtures for each future round as drawn. There will also be an SS Open chat topic started for gloating, questions and general chat about the tournament.
All games are one off knockout matches with penalties if required.
I am hoping to beat last year’s entry number of 128 teams. If the number taking part is not easily divisible then there will be a number of byes in the first round to bring the numbers in line.
