Closing in on what has been a pretty rubbish season really. Thankfully Charscot are almost safe and hopefully results will go our way and leave us safe after this week's fixtures.
We will be replying on Wascisco and Broomhall losing and failing to win to ensure our safety this week. The reason is simple, we go to The Academy where we have lost 1-0 on each of our last six visits.
So assuming another loss which seems likely we need Shaolin to not lose to Broomhall Lions and they won't be able to catch us.

Wascisco host A.F.C Binfield and a draw is as much as we can hope for, which would keep us alive if Charscot lose.

Dep El are playing "test the tactic" at present and I expect us to lose at Beeston Athletic 1-0 as we continue to try and find a way to score more often.

Ziaste host St Joseph's BC in a battle of second v third. Both sides need Spondon to drop points, which is unlikely this week as they play the hopeless Rhyl. Best we will do is draw, a result that probably ends both club's title challenge.

S.L.F.A. CUP SEMI-FINALS

The Academy v Longfield K.L.F
Zombie Nation v Seabourne City

PREVIEW
Both top flight sides are credited as the home side in their respective semi-finals this week against Division One opposition (Please note - The two semi-finals and the final are the only games in SS where both sides start with 50% possession, namely the system has no home team bias).
The Academy will start as underdogs as despite better recent form they face a Longfield K.L.F side who have the best record in the cup over recent seasons. Their best hope is Longfield have their focus on their promotion battle.
The other semi-final sees the WPL's biggest underachievers (yep, even worse than Charscot !!) Seabourne City visit Zombie Nation, a side that seems to just sit permanently in the bottom six of the top flight. Seabourne have their own relegation battle to fight and this distraction may well be enough to see Zombie move into the final.

LEAGUE RESULTS

PREMIER

Ziaste Nequeno ....v.... St Joseph's BC
Balham Town ....v.... Long Eaton Archers
The Academy ....v.... Charscot Wanderers
Shaolin F.C ....v.... Broomhall Lions
Zombie Nation ....v.... Prestatyn Town
Spondon Phoenix F.C. ....v.... Rhyl F.C
Wascisco Red Sox ....v.... A.F.C Binfield
Beeston Athletic ....v.... Dep El Celtico

TOP 3
Spondon are guaranteed top 3 if they better Shaolin's result.
Ziaste will take a top 3 spot with a win and a Shaolin loss

RELEGATED - Balham Town

RELEGATION
Broomhall Lions will relegate if they fail to win or if Charscot win
Wascisco Red Sox will relegate if they lose or if Charscot match their result

PREVIEW
The title is looking like going to Spondon Phoenix. They will expect to beat a flailing Rhyl (8th) and stamp their authority on top spot.
Second and third meet in a match that gives both sides their last chance to challenge Spondon. Loser is done, a draw probably ends both side's hopes.
Ziaste have home advantage against St Joseph's (3rd) but a draw seems the best they can expect and BC will know they have a good chance of sneaking the win.
The bulk of the chasing clubs have fallen away in recent weeks, leaving just Shaolin as a potential top 3 side. 3 points off of third in fourth place they host
Broomhall Lions (15th) who have to win or else take their place in Division One. Lions look likely to relegate now.
Joining them will be one of Wascisco or Charscot, with the former still needing to make up 7 points in the final 3 games.
Wascisco host A.F.C Binfield (11th) who have nothing to play for which may help the So stay alive another week.
Charscot (13th) go to The Academy (6th) looking to end a run of six consecutive losses at The Academy by a 1-0 scoreline. Charscot unlikely to be safe yet.

DIV 1

Longfield K.L.F ....v.... Carnbroe Rovers
Southpool ....v.... Broomhall Tigers
Rivendell ....v.... Whitebrook Rangers
Colwyn Bay ....v.... Real Madrid
Seabourne City ....v.... Carnbroe United
Dutch Uncles ....v.... Callie Athletic
Los Santos Cosmos ....v.... Requiem Shark
Ynysfawr Athletic ....v.... Vanbrugh Royals

PROMOTION
Vanbrugh will promote if they match Rivendell and Longfield's results or if both Rivendell and Longfield lose.
Whitebrook Rangers if they win and Longfield don't.

RELEGATED - Southpool

PREVIEW
The top two are surely going up and this week may see both grab top flight spots.
Vanbrugh go to draw specialists Ynsyfawr (15th) knowing an away win will guarantee promotion. Ynysfawr need to start winning or else they will relegate.
Whitebrook go to third placed Rivendell for a match that surely has more importance for the hosts who have third spot by a mere two goals.
Longfield (4th) will hope to make the most of their rivals meeting each other as they host Carnbroe Rovers (9th), another side with nothing to play for.
Hard to believe Real Madrid (5th) have a hope even with a easy match at local rivals Colwyn Bay (8th) but with meetings with Rivendell and Whitebrook to come they
will hope Rivendell lose and Longfield lose to allow them back into the fight.
Meanwhile Broomhall Tigers (6th) can win at already relegated Southpool (16th) and keep themselves in with a slim chance.
At the bottom two of four will go down with Southpool. Los Santos (14th) trail Seabourne City (13th) by one goal with both a point ahead of Ynysfawr.
Los Santos host Requiem Shark (11th) who aren't completely safe, just four points ahead of Cosmos. Requeim have been decent of late and Cosmos may end up with another unsatisfying draw.
Seabourne City host Carnbroe United (10th and 6 points clear) and the visitors should be safe. City simply have to win.
Dutch Uncles (12th and a point ahead of the chasing clubs) host Callie Athletic (7th) who have nothing to play for. This could be an excellent chance for Uncles to give themselves some breathing space to the bottom 3

DIV 2

Abergarwed Athletic ....v.... Metal Militia
Zakreze F.C ....v.... Sporting Academy
Space Cadets ....v.... Cornwall A.F.C
The Academy Reserves ....v.... Teesside Reds
Broomhall U23s ....v.... Barton Blitz
Avlon Villa ....v.... MTK Budapest
Rapid Gentrification ....v.... Real Blades
Academy Allstars ....v.... Mancs F.C.

PROMOTED - Barton Blitz and The Academy Reserves

RELEGATION
Academy Allstars will relegate if they lose or if they draw and Sporting Academy avoid defeat
Abergarwed Athletic will relegate if they lose and Sporting Academy and Mancs win

PREVIEW
Barton Blitz opened up a 3 point lead in the battle for the divisional title last week and they go to Broomhall U23s (6th) knowing a point would be a good result as the hosts
chase down third spot, currently four points adrift.
The Academy Reserves host Teesside Reds (10th and going nowhere) and a home win should be achieved.
The battle for third has seen sides fail to produce anything like the consistency to stay there as teams have dropped out of third almost as soon as they get there.
Cornwall A.F.C are now the holders of third with a 2 point lead to fourth. They visit Space Cadets (8th and 5 points behind) who seem destined to miss out again now on a promotion spot.
Avlon Villa have moved into fourth and may be the only challenger left base on recent form. They host MTK Budapest (7th) who have imploded after going third themselves, culminating in a 4-0
thrashing last week that probably ends their challenge.
Real Blades (5th) are 4 points behind Cornwall along with Broomhall U23s as their own challenge has slightly spluttered. They go to Rapid Gentrification (14th - two points from safety) who will make things
hard as they try to stay alive at the bottom.
Academy Allstars (16th) are all but gone and could go with a loss at home to Mancs (12th and three points above the relegation zone).
The remaining side not mentioned in the relegation battle is Sporting Academy (13th) who go to Zakreze (9th) for a hard match.

DIV 3

Academy Athletic ....v.... Castle Rock Furies
Bembridge F.C ....v.... Bala Town F.C.
Greenwich Mariners ....v.... Kilmarnock
Old Town Athletic ....v.... Long Eaton Terriers
New Town A.F.C ....v.... Blackheath Tigers
Caglibari Calcio ....v.... Birstall United
Gleadless United ....v.... Barton Hills United
Tempest Pervade ....v.... Caernarfon Town

PROMOTED - Gleadless United

TITLE
Gleadless will win the division if they win or if Long Eaton Terriers and Kilmarnock fail to win

PREVIEW
Gleadless have secured promotion and should take the title with a match at home to Barton Hills United (8th).
5 clubs are chasing two spots and two of them meet as Greenwich (4th) host Kilmarnock (3rd).
Long Eaton Terriers (2nd) have a tricky match at Old Town (7th and just going to fall short of a promotion spot).
These fixtures may allow New Town (5th) to jump into a promotion spot if they can win at home to Blackheath (9th).
Academy Athletic (6th) have four points to make up and should win at home to Castle Rock (11th)

TWO TO WATCH

Premier Division - Ziaste Nequeno ....v.... St Joseph's BC

Last chance saloon for these two sides as they look to keep in touch with leaders Spondon. Ziaste (2nd) are 2 points off of top spot with a GD that is worth a point to Spondon.
St Joseph's BC are the reigning Champions but look like they blew their chance with a home loss to Spondon last week. They have also lost at home to Ziaste this season and of their 6 losses
three have come to sides managed by yours truly and whilst a double by Ziaste seems unlikely the result may be one that only pleases chasing Shaolin in fourth. RESULT 1-1 draw

Division Three - Greenwich Mariners ....v.... Kilmarnock

This battle of fourth v third is a bit of a surprise as a promotion battle as Greenwich Mariners were meant to be in training mode for the season, before they realised the so-called promotion candidates were almost all a bunch of pretenders and promotion was a possibility. Kilmarnock are looking to bounce back from relegation and a win in this match would put them a lot closer. Both teams are strong defensively and this game may struggle to excite the fans. RESULT 0-0 draw

Season TTW Record -

100% correct - 3
Score the right way - 14
Score completely wrong - 37

Seabourne dominate the game but manage the lose. Think this is the season we're going down.

Binfield now waiting for next season...

Vanbrugh travel to draw specialists Ynysfawr this week. I'll take a draw as we seek to fall over the finishing line.

A big game for Rivendell as they host second placed Whitebrook this week. In normal circumstances a draw would be a good result, but at this stage of the season we probably need to win.

An out of form Beeston have another local derby as they host Dep El. Dep El should win this easily, despite their experimental tactics, as most of the Beeston players have already gone on their summer holidays.

Tricky away day for Whitebrook at 3rd placed Rivendell this week.

Win and we are virtually up due to GD, a draw wouldn't be a bad result either but defeat and a win for Longfield could see us pulled back into the mix.

Realistically one win from the three left should be enough but would be lovely to wrap it up early so I can relax

Pleased we got away win last week as we have struggled for wins away so can feel a little more confident about this week's match.

Hey we almost won the prem a few seasons back but lost on the last day, but yes admittedly we have been s*it in the last few seasons, too many transfers and reliance on youth

A must win game at Avlon Villa for MTK this week if we have any promotion aspirations. I do feel after last weeks results its probably gone but win the remaining games and see where it puts us.

Well a real mixed bag today as three wins out of four but the loss hurts one of my teams badly.

The result that makes it all ok is Charscot's, as we soak up LOADS of attacks from The Academy and score with two breakaways to win 2-0 and secure our safety and relegate Broomhall Lions and Wascisco, ending any tension at the bottom of the division.

Dep El win 1-0, new tactic that may be used again.

Wascisco get a good 1-0 win over A.F.C. Binfield, fully expect us to bounce back next season as we did last time.

Now to the gutting match. Ziaste lead 2-0 in their big match at the top but we end up losing 3-2. Spondon have a wobble losing and we are now two points behind them and BC with 2 games left. Unlikely we will be victorious but just about hanging in there.

Typically Spondon lose to a Mid table side at home to throw the title race wide open again with two to play, are we going to get our first ever Prem title, or bottle it!! Nothing in the game this week, a draw a fairer result
