Possibly, but the reason SS1 has survived so long is because it is relatively easy to grasp the basics early on and I have a feeling a lot of prospective managers will quickly move on if they feel it isn't relatively easy to work out to some extent.
As to relying on forums that is good but there will always be a decent number of players who don't have interest in forums and simply won't use them and basically writing them off as prospective players for the sake of having a rulebook/guide to help seems rather short sighted. Just because you don't read rulebooks doesn't mean everyone doesn't
All games have rulebooks and/or guides and they are for good reason. Many players never look at them but still a sizeable number will do.
To an extent it depends on where you ultimately expect the game base to come from, and that has varied over time between existing managers and new players.
Realistically you will need some of the former to get the game off and running and some of the latter as realistically you are not going to get every manager or every manager's teams to move from SS1.
Ironically it sounds like there is less room for individual tactics with 10 sessions than there is currently with 5 as with those five there are a few options teams can use without being punished in matches etc but from your descriptions 90% of the training is basically pre-determined unless we want to lose out ultimately (assuming the balance ends up working as I am sure it will do).
