Woody, north-south divide. It was dinner here, same words, different meaning. Main meal of the day is dinner.

Glynn, the player arrives as soon as won and is listed on the market as sold with details of bid and winner for a full week.

This has to happen in the new game as managers want to know how much the player went for, who got him etc. How can a manager know if they are bidding market value if no one ever knows what a player sold for ?! Sorry but this simply has to happen otherwise the market is a farce as managers could spend years bidding believing they are losing out by small amounts on players when the reality is they are off by millions.

Agree, it has to stay the same, so people can also work out the market value of a player before they even put the player on there, as well as those that are bidding as Rich said..

I think most of europe and the uk have lunch and dinner, its just us common folk up north that have dinner and tea

Rich let me know what they have in Scotland, am up there this week working, don't want to order the wrong thing

I'm certainly not going to ask "excuse me my dear man, do you have a table for one, for lunch" I'll be eating the rest of my meals through a straw

I didn't want to make assumptions about the rest of the UK and Europe, just in case this wasn't just a Woody area thing  Thought it maybe a Southern thing simply because you would have to be an idiot to mention it otherwise as you would look silly. I should have noted it was Woody who made the point

That's a good point re sellers. They need to be able to look at a market and see a rough idea of what they might get for a player, impossible to do if no one ever knows what a player sold for unless having personally sold an identical player themselves.

Yep, I agree, the player has to arrive in his new team as soon as the bidding ends (which happens when the selling team's league is received, just as SS1). But then he needs to spend a week on the AM, as 'SOLD', but not available for further bidding.

I was on the verge of ripping the whole AM out and restarting it last night because I'd overlooked this aspect and couldn't work out how to do it with the new code I'd added. Either that or having a separate table of sold players, but that seems a bit extraneous to me, especially when the tables are sortable anyway (so you can now just sort the 'Time Remaining' column to see all the recent sales if you want to). He needs to just show on the same market, as 'SOLD' with no bidding option and the buying team and winning bid showing. That needs to stay for a week, until the selling team's league is received again (in the meantime, he's available in his new team anyway).

Luckily, I woke up a bit refreshed and managed to work it out on my morning trudge through the muddy fields with Terry, so I think I've solved it and it should work as above.

The only minor problem, is if somebody receives the player and then immediately sells him to the AM, in which case he'll go back onto the market and the 'SOLD' message will basically be over-written. I don't see this as a serious problem as it won't happen often and even when it does, the 'SOLD' line will still be shown for a few leagues (between when the selling league and the new league are received).

SS1 does it by having a copy of the player for the AM. So when he's sold, he goes into his new team but the copy hangs around on the market for a week, just to show the final bid. It's not very good, although it is a tiny bit better for this aspect.

Glynn, just thinking about your last message talking about a player being instantly resold... Wouldn't he go back on with a new AM code (and so wouldn't over write and wouldn't be a problem) or will ss2 maintain id codes?

Yeah it'll maintain ID codes, since there's no limit now. Unlike SS1, it's not a copy that goes onto the AM but that actual player (well, he's just flagged as being on the AM and has his 'Team' flag set to zero).
