Half way mark and the battle at the top of the Prem is a tight one between a number of teams! We need to avoid mistakes and keep the pressure on.

We host Spread Devils this week and would love to kick the second half of season off with a win. Devils have a decent side and often run us close so expect a tight match.

We also have round two of the SLFA Cup. We take on Edzell United. They are having a hard season towards the foot of Div Two so we really should be winning this match, at the same time Edzell though, have nothing to lose.

Berwick Hills sit in second place in Division 1 at the halfway mark, but games don't come any harder than this week's - away to top of the table Sant' Antioco!

AFC Scarborough are home to Romford Dogs this week. Lets see how we do in that game, looking like we need a good run or bad run to make my season interesting.

Away to Forest Bay who are on a good run of form right now - like ourselves.

They beat us 2-1 at the beginning of the season but we have improved majorly since then and we should go on to win this and leapfrog them in the league.

3-0 Forest it is then.

Berwick Hills maintained their second placed position in Division 1 with a surprise win at top of the table Sant' Antioco to complete the league double over the promotion favourites. A staunch rearguard action was required for large durations of the game at Floris Park, but it was a great response to last week's home defeat to Methley Ravens and keeps the promotion push on track.

In the second round of the Cup, Berwick again survived the majority of the possession and chances to overcome a strong Tyldesley Panthers side in extra time at The Stone Field. The long-serving Andrei Ivan netted his 36th goal in 110 games for the club. Always nice to be in the hat for the 3rd round - doesn't happen often. :D

Another half decent week but a few results could have been better !

City lose ground in the promotion race !

Madchester City face basement boys Elton Vale at the Citadel Stadium , with City making two changes from last week with Danny Ake coming in for the outwards bound Ilkay Mendy and Zachary Grech coming in for Ferdnandinho and it proved to be City's undoing as they fail to keep Elton at bay ! City took control of the match from the off but couldn't make any head way through the Elton Vale defence with chances going to waste ! The defensive re-shuffle then proved costly as Ake pulled down Joey Sisley on the edge of the area with the defence looking un-threatened from the attack and City was then punished when Fergal Flynn gave Elton Vale the lead as he swerved a fantastic shot past the keeper directly from a free-kick just outside the 'D' with Ederson rooted to the spot to take an undeserved lead into the half time whistle. The second half started much the same with City again wasting numerous chances and failing to punish Elton Vale with their dominance on the ball , with City pushing for the equaliser it was time to ring the changes with Gabriel Torres coming on for the in-effective Riyad Sterling and five minutes later the poor Shane Zaha making way for Ryan Mahrez to little effect as Elton hold firm to take the spoils !

City had the game and the chances to win this but fail to finish the chances they created and find themselves punished with the defensive re-shuffle ! It's a blow to the promotion hopes as the teams around them both win to give themselves a three point cushion in the promotion spots as City fall to forth ! I will be hoping next week we can maybe get back on track as I look to ring the changes again ?

Wba grind out much needed win on the road !

Wba was on the road this week and travelled to a tough Coppenhallstars looking to bounce back from last weeks poor showing and with Wba going through a small re-build the manager was forced to make a few changes to the starting 11 with Dave Welham making his debut in place of the departing Morgan Blackett , Isaac Green coming in for the departing Antonio Januzaj and Tymo Reus making his long awaited debut as he takes over from the out of form Kyle Edwards who drops to the bench ! The match kicked off and it wasn't long before Coppenhallstars got their noses in front when Kondwani Mtonga rounded the keeper and flicked the ball into the empty net after beating a badly executed offside trap to put Wba in trouble and the new look defence looking shaky ! After the goal the game settled down but wasn't without incidents as debutant Dave Welham was booked for shouting at the ref in the 7th minute as the game got abit more lively ! Wba had chances in the first half to level and maybe could have gone in at halftime further behind as both sides created chances ! The second half started abit more slowly with Wba wasting chance after chance with inaccurate shooting and Coppenhallstars looking deadly on the counter ! Soon enough Wba's pressure bared some fruit as Jamie Rodriguez grabbed the equaliser as he cracked the ball past the keeper with a magnificent volley from eighteen yards following a good break from Tymo Reus to pull Wba back into the match ! Wba was buoyed by this and looked abit more confident on the ball and it was deep into the second half when Isaac Green made way for Sam Field and debutant Tymo Reus was replaced with Kyle Edwards , the fresh legs really helped ! as 8 minutes later Wba had their noses in front when Jamie Rodriguez got his second of the match when he bundled a simple shot into the back of the net from close range following a nice run from midfield by Nick Clayton-Phillips to send the away fans crazy !!! This goal seemed to knock the wind out of Coppenhallstars as they desperately tried to find the equaliser but the new look Wba defence held firm to see the match out and take the 3 points home !

The game was very even with Coppenhallstars creating the better chances but failing to put them away and Wba finding their scoring touch as the game wore on and making that possession count and maybe just edging the game overall ? With Wba looking to freshen up the squad and new boy Dwight McNeil in the stands and ready to make his debut next week it could be an interesting few weeks ahead ! With 2 more new faces expected in the coming week the competition for places at the club has never looked better and maybe next season they can add the consistency that's lacking ? News is still circulating on the futures of James Rodriguez and Kyle Edwards as the manager looks again to maybe cut some of the old guard out the side ??

Forest continue revival as they keep on the tails of the top 3 with romp !

Forest had the tricky side Black Moon at the City Ground today and with Forest hoping to keep on the tails of the pace setters they really needed a good performance to keep their promotion hopes alive and the home fans wasn't disappointed when they left the ground at the final whistle ! With Mario Coluna leaving the club it gave the chance for the young Larry Arter to step up and take his chance on his home debut for the only change from last weeks win . From kick-off the match started cagey with both sides guilty of wasted chances but soon enough Forest was able to assert their dominance on the game with some lovely flowing football but it was Mid way into the half when Forest finally broke the walls of the Black Moon defence when Innocent Emeghara bundled an un-missable shot past the keeper from close range following a desperate scramble inside the box to spark the game to life and open the flood gates ! Soon after the restart a sloppy pass from Black Moons Campbell Rice allowed Diogo Carvalho to intercept and get Forest on the front foot for a swift counter and the second of the game when Bryan Roy hammered a magnificent shot into the back of the net from way outside the area after some super counter attacking football , the half wasn't finished there as just before the half time whistle Jay Lolley added further to Forest lead as he lobbed the ball expertly over the keeper from way outside the area following a stupid mix up in the Black Moon defence putting the game to bed and the home fans chanting " we want more ". The second half started pretty much as the first ended with Forest looking dangerous every time they attacked ! Black Moon just didn't have the answer to stop Forest and it wasn't long before the forth was nestled in the goal when Ethan Dekel-Daks curled a spectacular shot past the keeper from way outside the area following a super move down the left from Larry Arter ! At this point you would be forgiven to think Forest took their foot off the gas but no ! 12 minutes later Bryan Roy had his second and Forest's fifth as he knocked the ball over the line from five yards after another driving attack down the left from the young man Larry Arter ! With the game well and truly over Forest made the call to bring on some fresh legs with Larry Arter leaving the pitch to a standing ovation to be replaced by Ryan Yates , five minutes later Perrins Van Hooijdonk was brought on for Innocent Emeghara to really just see the game out and rest Emeghara for next weeks local Derby but it didn't slow Forest down as in the 76th minute Andrew Knowles bundled Perrins Van Hooijdonk to the ground inside the penalty area and the ref did nothing more than blow for a penalty which Perrins Van Hooijdonk slotted home himself for Forest's sixth and final goal of the game.....

This was a brilliant performance from Forest ! Forest had most of the ball and plenty of chances but today it was all about the clinical finishing on display to really put Black Moon to the sword ! With the couple of sides above them picking up wins this result had to come to keep them on the tails and in the hunt , Forest face a tricky few games coming and will need more performances like this to keep in the race !

One missed Moa open cup game Selly All Stars (0) v (3) Tyldesley Panthers could you let me know what happened please ? Game moved to week 18 , Wba make the semi's after overturning the first leg to progress 4-3

Have a good weekend everyone :)

Disappointing but fair losses for Selly in both league and cup. Wokingham scrape a win to keep in the promotion positions.

Selly's cup game was down OK.

Cheers
Dave
