Triple header this week for Vaga and all important.

We head to Lochar Thistle in the league, buoyed by a great win last week. We have some serious catching up to do so every point for us and dropped by others will hopefully help us chip away at the top spot.

Talking of top spot we take on leaders AFC Warkworth in the tie of the round in SLFA Cup. A tough game ahead especially as they steadied the ship last week with a win after two league defeats.

We also have a replay in MOA Super Cup and progression is always nice there.

Another decent week started slow but finished strong towards the end :)

City had a double game week with Methley Ravens in the league and Tolbury City F.C in the cup , It was difficult to picked the side for these games so City named an unchanged line up.

League

Kick off and from the first minute City and Methley got the messure of each other with both sides seeing plenty of the ball but it was Methley who broke first when Brandon Porter did brilliantly to avoid the challenge from Gerard Gundogan to slip the ball into the path of Cole Levitt who did well to get the ball across goal for Lucas Branco to hit on the volley but his effort bounces wide of the post , it was a warning that Methley was looking to take maximum points today ! City come forward with Nathan De Bruyne who then feeds the ball out wide to Fernando de Jesus who quickly whips in a low cross and Riyad Sterling rounds the keeper and prodded the ball into the empty net following a desperate scramble inside the box to give City the lead ! But from the re-start Methley come forward with Matt McMillan down the right his plays it square to Ryan Withington who then finds the pass to pick out Lucas Branco , Lucas Branco cuts inside his marker and finds Cole Levitt in the City area he drives towards the by-line and cuts the ball back for Calum McDade to bundle a simple shot over the line from close range after some great passing football, to put the teams back on level terms. Both teams had chances later on in the half but they go in at the break level.
No changes and the second half is underway and Methley are knocking the ball around a lot better with some nice short passing football but City look solid at the back ? Methley coe forward again Carlos Sainz pumps a long ball for the back and finds Ryan Withington who quickly releases the ball to Wilfred Lane who drives forward and lays it back into the path of Calum McDade who drives the ball past the keeper from the edge of the area following a terrible mix up in the Madchester City defence to give Methley the lead and put City on the back foot ! With City behind and the cup fixture in mind City make the first change and its Andre Zeklos on for Gerard Gundogan to give some much need energy back in the City engine room ! City quickly come forward Andre Zeklos finds the overlapping Erik Walker who advances well in the Methley half he turns and finds Nathan De Bruyne who finds the pass to pick out Danny Grealish who does well to hold off the challenge and lay the ball back for Gabriel Torres to hammer the ball into the net from twenty yards following some nice build up play down the right, to put the teams back on level terms it was what City deserved as the game was pretty even up to this point ! With the clock ticking down City make the final change and Bernabe de Silva was brought on for Danny Grealish in the hopes of snatching all three points ! It wasn’t to be and finally the ref blew the final whistle.

Cup

Kick off and from the first minute City took control of the ball in front of the home fans but its Tolbury who come forward first Leigh Fox does well to give City midfielder Gabriel Torres the slip and hequickly get the ball out wide to Vitor Romano who holds up the ball looking for the overlapping Obi Chidiegwu who puts in a deep cross into the City area Magnus Kristensen beats the defender to the ball and guides it towards goal but Moraes Ederson gets down well to gather the ball ! City with the game midway into the first half have a real chance to open the scoring when Danny Ake comes forward and finds Gerard Gundogan who lofts a long ball into the path of Riyad Sterling who does brilliantly to bring the ball under control and turns towards goal he drives towards the area and squares for Gabriel Torres to drive the ball towards goal but Tolbury stopper Lucas Oliviera does well to save the ball. City come forward again as they start to dominate possession , Riyad Sterling picks up the ball on the half way line and turns looking to play the ball behind the defence , Danny Grealish does brilliantly to get to the ball first and manages to wiggle himself some room to open up for the shot but Tolbury stopper Lucas Oliviera reads well and gets down low to his right. City just can’t seem to find the pass to really open up Tolbury and the ref blows for half time with the sides level.
No reported changes and the second half kicks off , City again settle early on the ball and seem to knock it around well but can’t find the opening to thread the ball and Tolbury look happy to sit back hoping to hit on the break ! Tolbury pick up the ball and quickly come forward Vitor Romanogets down the left and cuts inside to find Tomas Faria who then plays the ball behind for Adriel Arias to chase he does well and beats City defender Erik Walker , Adriel Arias drives the ball across goal and Magnus Kristensen can only watch as his flick goes wide of the post ! It was another warning for City that Tolbury could punish them if they lost concentration ! City come forward this time with Phillippe Sandler bringing the ball from out the back he finds the pass to pick out Nathan De Bruyne who then turns the ball over to Danny Grealish , Danny Grealish holds off his marker and slips the ball into the feet of Riyad Sterling who drives the ball towards goal but again Lucas Oliviera reads the situation well and has the shot covered ! City needed new ideas so called to the bench and Andre Zeklos was brought on for Gerard Gundogan quickly followed by a double change from Tolbury with Les Huckfield brought on for Leon Stevenson and Victor Mannix brought on for Magnus Kristensen. The change around seemed to knock a very well organised Tolbury as City’s Nathan De Bruyne picks up the ball and quickly gets it up front to Riyad Sterling who holds the ball up well and lays it back to Danny Ake who then finds Gabriel Torres , Gabriel Torres picks out the pass to find Danny Grealish who curled a magnificent shot over the line from thirty yards following a good move down the left and give City the lead they deserved but it took a moment of magic to finally beat a stubborn Tolbury side , with legs tiring City make the final change and Bernabe de Silva was brought on for Danny Grealish. The game finally run down the ref blows for full time.

City played well in the league and on the balance of stats it was a fair result its tricky to get things spot on in double game days but I feel they did the job today ! City dominated in the cup fixture but not taking anything from Tolbury who made us work for the win ! City’s names in the hat , happy with both results.

The out of sorts Wba was home today and faced Red Lichties with four changes to the side Sam Field comes into the defence for Silvio Anocic , Jamie Rodriguez drops back into midfield in place of Dwight McNeil and Shane Zaha makes his home debut in place of Weston McKennie , Peter Olawale comes onto the bench alongside Adam Reach.

Kick off and from the very first minute Wba took control of the ball , Wba come forward with Nick Clayton-Phillips who pick out Jamie Rodriguez down the left , Jamie Rodriguez cuts inside and squares to find Morten Thorsby who flicks the ball behind the defence for Shane Zaha to chase , Shane Zaha then drives the ball towards goal but hits the side netting. Wba come forward again this time from the back Zachary Ashworth drives towards the half way line and plays the ball to Nick Clayton-Phillips who fires the ball into Zakky Mirralas who turns his defender well and lets fly from the edge of the area but the ball carries on over the bar ! Wba look to get at Red Lichties at every opportunity but a miss placed pass from Shane Zaha turns the ball over and Red Lichties break quickly Mark Woolrich drves forward looking for Artur Coimbra and finds him , Artur Coimbra knocks the ball out wide and finds Andy Sussex who quickly gets in the cross Stuart Fox gets to the ball first but can’t hit the target as it goes wide of the post ! Wba was starting to look frustrated and it wasn’t helped with the home fans jeering when on the ball. With wasted chances the ref finally blows for half time with the sides still level.
Second half kicks off and again Wba get camped in the Red Lichties half and knock the ball around well but can’t find a way through Morten Thorsby looks for Zachary Grech and finds him , Zachary Grech drives towards the by line and swings the ball into the box Tymo Reus gets highest and heads the ball wide of the post and another chance goes begging ! With Wba looking lost for ideas they call to the bench and make a double change Adam Reach was brought on for Morten Thorsby and Peter Olawale was brought on for Shane Zaha. The Wba fans was growing increasingly frustrated with their side !! Wba’s Adam Reach picks up the ball and looks for the overlapping Zachary Ashworth , Zachary Ashworth plays a one , two with Peter Olawale and drives to the edge of the area and puts a low cross into the box for Jamie Rodriguez to force the ball into the back of the net from close range following some nice build up play down the right to finally open the scoring for Wba and to finally break the Red Lichties resolve ! A huge sigh of relief echoed around the stadium !! Wba come forward again with not long left on the clock Jamie Rodriguez does well to slip his marker and get forward he finds Zakky Mirralas on the edge of the area he turns his marker slipping the ball into the area for Nick Clayton-Phillips to bundle an unmissable shot over the line from close range after beating a badly executed offside trap to finally wrap up the points but Wba was really made to work for them ! With little fight back from Red Lichties the ref finally blows for full time.

Wba dominate and deserve the win but made hard work of it ! Wasted numinous chances to have the game in the bag early on ! Red Lichties did little in the match and was reduced to zero chances on target but worked well to frustrate Wba !

Forest had a huge six pointer at home to Stonehaven United and made one change from the side that drew last week with Brenden Johnson coming into the starting line up in place of Chioma Ajunwa.

Kick off and you could sense this was going to be a tight match that both sides was looking for maximum points to aid in the survival battle in the premiership. It’s Stonehaven that comes forward first Diego De Souza bombs forward down the left and play a brilliant one , two with Andrew Riddle , Diego De Souza gets to the by line and swings in a decent cross Eric da Silva Moreira gets up first and heads the ball down towards goal but Forest stopper Joe Pantilimon spots the danger and gathers up the ball. Forest looked nervy and Stonehaven was looking to exploit this Alasdair Murphy picks up the ball on the left deep in the Forest half he squares to Dan Cowell who unleashes a shot towards goal but it goes over the Forest goal. Forest eventually start to knock the ball around better and the confidence starts to return Jayden Cash gets forward with the ball and looks to play to Brenden Johnson , Brenden Johnson lays the ball back to Ethan Dekel-Daks who lifts the ball over the defender for Brendon Johnson to chase , Brendon Johnson gets to the ball first and drills a low cross into the area for Ryan Yates to flick an easy shot over the line from close range following some good build up play the nerves settled for Forest. Abit of frustration for Stonehaven striker Eric da Silva Moreira as he’s booked for kicking the ball away. Forest take the free kick quickly Diogo Carvalho pumps the ball forward looking for Brenden Johnson who does brilliantly to control the ball and spot Bryan Roy who hammered the ball into the back of the net from eighteen yards following a good run from his own half to put Forest in a commanding lead with only minutes left till the half time whistle Forest get a chance to break Ryan Yates lofts the ball looking for Brandon Johnson who brings the ball under control cuts inside the defender and unleashes a brilliant shot from the edge of the area but the ball cannons back off the crossbar ! The ref finally calls time and blows for half time with Forest looking commanding.
With no reported changes the game gets underway , Forest look to get forward searching for the third Morgan Blackett brings the ball forward and looks to find Ethan Dekel-Daks who spins and plays the ball into Bryan Roy who slips the ball into Innocent Emeghara who then tries to lift the ball over the on rushing Oliver Glockenheinz but lifts it into the side netting. With Forest starting to look leggy in midfield they make the first call to the bench Larry Arter was brought on for Ryan Yates but you had a sense that Stonehaven wasn’t out of this game at two down ? Stonehaven pick up the ball with Vincent Vieira who quickly finds Dan Cowell who finds the pass to cause panic in the Forest defence for Andrew Riddle to pull a goal back for Stonehaven United as he chipped the ball expertly over the keeper from way outside the area following a ridiculous mix up in the Forest C.F.C defence and within a minute the game had swung in Stonehaven’s favour ! Forest looking now to try and defend the goal lead make one final call and Alex Mighten was brought on for Brenden Johnson and it had the complete opposite effect !! Alex Mighten miss controls the ball and Stonehaven break with Vincent Vieira pumps the ball forward looking for the run of Vasili Kovac who brings the ball under control he cuts inside and slips the ball between two Forest defenders for Andrew Riddle to grab his second and the teams back on level terms as he skipped past the keeper and poked the ball into the empty net following a super break from just inside his own half and Stonehaven was back in the match breaking the hearts of the Forest fans when their team looked comfortable ! With the Forest manager barking orders at his team to calm down and play Forest’s Larry Arter picks up the ball he waits for the overlapping Jayden Cash dummies and comes inside for Diogo Carvalho to drive the team forward he quickly plays the ball into Alex Mighten who holds of the defender and slips the ball into Innocent Emeghara to give Forest the lead as he skipped past the keeper and bundled the ball into the empty net following a super break from just inside his own half to send the home fans wild again !! With Forest looking nervy the manager tries to keep his players calm and focused as we run into the final minuts but Stonehaven pick up the ball and drive forward with Santiago Sosa who then finds the pass to Eric da Silva Moreira who turns the defender to shoot but Forest stopper Joe Pantilimon is switched on to dive low to his left and push the ball away to safety ! With little more of the half remaining the ref finally blows for full time and the Forest players just collapse !

It was a tight game with both sides having a fair share of the match ! Forest race into a great lead but fail to keep concentration when it mattered ! We was lucky today and will need to work a lot harder to keep teams out on this showing !

Moa Open Cup catch up first leg played cheers gents ! Second leg next week please. :)

Have a good weekend all 8)
