Is it possible to have some kind of a filter on the International Scout search regarding quality? I appreciate Glynn doesn't want SS2 full of maxed out players, but my search this week retrieved a player of less value than the cost of the trip. In fact most of my youth players are worth more. Presumably I still have to pay this guy one week's wages before I send him back - not a fortune by any means, it's just annoying as it's surely pretty obvious that neither I nor anybody else would want to sign this guy.

Personally hate the international scout in SS2. Not being able to request the standard of player to look for is an enormous step back in my opinion.

Cannot see the point in having less control over scout finds than in SS1. No one is going to sign these rubbish players as you rightly say and it isn't as if teams are looking for superstars (much as they would like them), just reasonable players that may have a use in the future. Too many under the lack of control way of scouting now are simply not fit for purpose for any side, regardless of that team's level.

I see your point however in mind there need to be some clear differences between SS1 and SS2 and this is one of them. If we can request brilliant players like in SS1 it is just too similar in my opinion.

I would agree if brilliant players actually just meant superstars/potential superstars/great youth players but even in SS1 brilliant players are often not that great.

However, not that great in SS2 is laughable, players in their retirement year whose best skill is below average is an utter waste of time.

As to there having to be clear differences between the games, there are already enormous differences in most aspects of the game so I don't buy that as an argument as this just feels like being different means being far worse intentionally and whilst many of the differences/changes in the game for SS2 have a reasoning behind them I have yet to see any reasoning behind this difference at all (saying we need differences is not a reason when so much is already different).

There are bound to be some/many (depending on viewpoint) differences that managers like/dislike/don't care about and that is to be expected but this seems to be a change with no reasoning or logic for it. It doesn't reduce the number of star players coming into the game simply because most foreign finds aren't stars and for every manager in SS1 who does well with their scout another will be lamenting on here at never finding anyone.

Bear in mind we are only talking about being able to scout for "brilliant" players in SS2 producing players that can be at the league level (no matter how high or low that is skills wise - and with an extra skill making perfect players all but impossible anyway the idea of brilliant players any more is entirely meaningless in that regard). The current league level for skills is very low, not a surprise as it should be with a new game, new league etc and that is cool. But we are not even finding players that have a hope of reaching the already low level (and as this is the lowest level the skills of players will ever be at due to trainers etc that makes the vast majority of finds a complete waste of effort). Asking for brilliant really means asking for league entry level players, and if we can't even get that as a simple request then it makes the international scout a far poorer part of the game and SS2 should be different but not by making aspects poorer.

No doubt the same would be happening/will happen if/when managers talk more about SS2 and their teams etc (hard to gauge at this point as chat is minimal and it is hard to know who is having success with their scouts and who isn't based on comments.

I do take your point. I'm not asking to be able to find brilliant players, but simply to have an option not to bring back abysmal ones who I am obviously not going to want to sign. They guy this week was valued at £12,000 - I don't think there are ANY managers in the game who would want to sign a player in his mid 20's valued at £12,000.

As Rich says, the term "brilliant" has a huge range any way. But regardless of whether we searched for "brilliant" or just didn't search for (for example) poor or below, all I'm asking for is the option of a "common sense" filter so I can exclude players I have no interest in.

Apology accepted Rich ;-)

I would agree that so called 'very good' and above finds generally aren't up to scratch.

So far I have managed to find a couple of very good players..one I signed and one I didn't due to age,the others i have found have been average in general,i don't know whether this is the case but in SS2 does the level of your foreign scout have a bigger bearing on the amount/quality of foreign players you find?
I have mine at good which means a few others staff members are nowhere nears as high a level as you have to balance it all up,personally i think the scouting is working fine but can see others point of view.

Ive managed to sign 3 foreign players so far, although saying that they are awful, ones old and the other 2 are mid 20's.

I think 1 of them was a brilliant find and to be honest they wouldnt even get into a culled side in SS1, but this is SS2 and most players are truly awful anyway

They just about make the side slightly better, and its better than paying the over inflated AM prices that are floating around at the moment for what are crap skilled players..

Found a few crap players too, and its just a waste of a week as anything below very good isnt worth signing

Can't imagine the level of scout makes a difference to the quality. I have a level 10 scout and if what he finds is "superior" to say a good scout heaven help anyone with one of them !

I've kinda balanced that international scout to bring in players who are 'better' than the existing players, which isn't saying much. So they're definitely not going to be as good as SS1 finds.

I just found a £1.1M Argentinian, he's better than my other defenders but not by much and I'm not paying £4.8M for him.

Any scout can find any level of player, the good ones are just more likely to find better players.
