Consecutive clean sheets have given Charscot hope of dragging themselves away from the bottom. We face an enormous match as The Academy visit. They have been surprise struggles, with just one win, against their Reserves so to speak, and with us having won the last 5 meetings at our place we will be hoping to make it 6. Will go for a 2-0 win for us.

Dep El have been by far my most productive side this season so far (not much competition I know considering my other teams  ) and we travel to a very strong Long Eaton Archers team who are struggling unexpectedly but are clearly a top side. 1-1 may be all we can hope for.

Wascisco host The Northerners. Always a game we should lose but a game we rarely actually lose so will go for a 2-1 win for us.

Ziaste host top of the table Longfield K.L.F and hard to see anything but a loss for us with KLF scoring for fun at present. 2-0 to the visitors.

Castle Rock have been dropping off of the pace lately, not a surprise as it was more of a shock to be up there in the first place. A trip to runaway leaders Colwyn Bay, who have yet to lose, isn't going to see a bounce back for us, 4-0 to Colwyn.

Fenway should lose easily enough at home to Owlthorpe, 0-3.

home game for Spondon against Mark & Ayrhead, if it's anything like our games in other leagues it'll be a close one, we could do with the win though but the way we're playing & miss-firing i can see us getting a point at best

Bottom of the table 6 pointer this week as we host Barton Blitz.

Got a feeling this game will end all square to help neither of us much, but really could do with getting back to winning ways.

New signing Awanda Aalhowa spoke to counsellor as soon as he walked in so is in line for a debut.

I am also back in caretaker charge of Metal Miltia, Emmys Monstars, Davorin and Grimbald so hopefully can bring points back for those sides too.

Very tough away game at Seabourne, not the best of games to try and bounce back from a thumping.

Mini revival ends as Charscot lose a game of few chances and drop into the bottom 3. Relegation is certain as just can't get the team to play win consistently

Dep El look like replacing them as we go 7 points clear of fourth place and into top spot after a late goal gives us a great win at Long Eaton.

Wascisco did what they are supposed to do, but rarely do, and lost to The Northerners. No complaints at all.

Dep El go top after Ziaste get a great point with Longfield. They had a lot more chances than us but the few we created were likely to be sitters so not surprised we scored 2 from 4 on target.

Castle Rock get a point at Colwyn Bay, who should be ashamed at not beating us !

Fenway lose 2-1 at home.

All four Super Cup matches played, thanks everyone, onto the second legs.

KLF pegged back by Ziaste 2-2 in a game we probably should've have won as we were the better side according to the stats. That said, 7 points from 9 against top 5 sides in our last 3 games is a good return and we will kick on from here :)

Very surprised by a welcome away win for Ayrhead. We are not a very good side this season and need to pick up points like this where we can if we are to preserve our Division One status.

You created more isn't the same as being the better side. As I so often have had to make clear the breakdown means zero, reality is many tactics will concede possession/create fewer chances but are designed that way as they can be more effective (as Ziaste's were as we took far less to score as much as you, which is tactically the way we were set up).

Now, KLF are the better side, but that is simply down to the skills of the two teams and has nothing to do with the breakdown which is "read" by managers in a way it shouldn't be as they assume possession/number of chances is some sort of indicator of superiority (it isn't as is so often proven in real football where plenty of teams intentionally concede a lot of possession knowing full well their few chances will be much easier than their opponents) :D

Yep, got that same feeling writing it :)

It is funny (generally, not aimed at Marc in ANY WAY) seeing the frequency of claims of "deserved-ness" based on the breakdown, when all a breakdown is in SS is a simple statement of exactly how many of any given thing a team had. Very easy to fall into the trap of using it as a "proof" of a winning result or the result's harshness if a game is lost/not won as we all look for ways to justify our success/bemoan our hard luck.

But even a cursory glance of the rulebook will show how different tactics will result in a game breaking down VERY differently and that there are plenty of tactics that are always going to give up possession but can easily win games and that there is a huge difference between number of shots on target and the quality (ie easiness to score) of chances created.

I spent years wrongly letting the breakdown make me stick with things that didn't work just because on first glance the breakdown showed that my team had dominated possession/shots etc.

Without listing specific names of teams (as real life football is verboten on here) there is a very obvious high profile game just played this weekend where the tactics of one team meant they gave up loads of possession and they had just 2 shots on target but won 2-1. Now the winning manager set his tactics for exactly that scenario to play out and much as many fans may well not like it the reality is the tactics worked so they deserved the win regardless of how many chances or how much possession the other team had.

And this isn't a one off down to a particular manager, it happens across all countries at all levels every week so it happening in SS is exactly how it should be :)
