Ahh, is that what Chris is talking about ? Your comment re wage reductions ? That makes a lot more sense thanks John. :)

Chris - possibly a good idea to quote the person, in this case John (Jelly) or just mention his comment so we know what you are talking about as it wasn't clear (I did ask another manager if I was missing the point and he couldn't see it either so I know I'm at least not alone) in future ? Just a thought.

The 12 years bit threw me and to be honest (as mentioned before) I had never noticed this wage reduction thing happening by managers when AM'ing players until this thread and the manager who contacted me privately gave a different person as an example so never even thought of you doing this Chris.

Phew some clarity :D

I do hope there are some out there at 'basic' stage which possibly Glynn should promote, to encourage the sense of pride you create from a carcass, and then stay with it because it's your home.

These two parts I do agree with, Chris, completely. Whilst it takes a long time to build up a good following (which I think some teams got through 'rewards' or 'competitions' from people running ss, rather than purely by results), the other aspects of ground improvements are important in that long term vision that you, and may others, have.

There are plenty of bare carcass teams out there and there are a number of teams that have been taken on for that very challenge. Would you like to do it all over again? Seriously, come and join me - I've taken on a new team in the third division of the RH with that kind of view. Now you are an active member of the forum, I have a feeling you'll be good at getting some banter going :P

I don't disagree with Chris on this either but "true" carcass teams are few and far apart as even the long vacant crappy lower league sides tend to at least have the semblance of a ground for example. There are as you say though plenty of teams that can be built from relative scratch.

Unfortunately these just don't seem to appeal at all to new managers any more as managers join the game demanding immediate success/star players etc and leave disillusioned fairly quickly (success in terms of results can be done quickly, star sides not so much) as the gaming industry has changed over the decades and FM/CM provides the instant gratification newbies seem to demand nowadays.

So the true challenges are left to all of us long termers to take on as and when appeals it seems so clearly we all need to have say 20 teams each (Glynn no doubt loves that idea) :)

Regarding the reducing of wages when selling players on the AM. I have done this in the past, but I never thought (may be naively) about the players happiness being effected for any club purchasing my players. Needless to say I wont be doing it in the future.

I am in the midst of selling a player at the moment and I fined him after a sending off this season so had to make sure his wage got put back to the original amount, had the wage issue not been brought up last month I coud easily have forgotten about it.

I'm pleased to have sparked a discussion.

The reduction of player wages to below what is considered a fair rate

Would it be expected to increase new season 18 year old youth promotions to a correct salary before dispensing with the unwanted, that I have often sold?

'Something posted nearly 12 years ago'

My fail, wasted sarcasm / poor wit.

John 'Jelly' - Derbyshire

Truly love your honesty. Hopefully, I think you have quickly realised that I'm not on here to create conflict, or offend, it is not my nature. The Robin Hood league sounds interesting. It is currently difficult with 5 teams, which now all compete in the same division. You can't do right from wrong, and you can only hurt yourself. I have contemplated dropping a couple to take on something new....just need to snap those heart strings. My eyes are leaking already.....

Have a great evening
Chris

Err, your way with word has lost me again

If you mean youths you dump on the market, their wages aren't corrected before listing but no one will (or indeed should) hold you accountable as that happens to everyone so anyone buying a 18yo on the market who wasn't promoted early from the youth team will expect a £50 waged player on arrival complaining he wants a wage rise.

As things stand the only youth wages that are correctly increased for being 18 without manager interference are those youth players promoted before week 31, who have their wages calculated for that point in time by the system when promoted to the first team squad on week 20, 25, 27 etc (ie any bar week 31 for week 1 arrival itself).

Now, let's forget any potential unpleasantness, and get yourself a nice new team in the NSA. A super league, with a great history. Or one of those duff teams at the bottom of the Robin Hood!

John, not sure what you do for a living, but if it's not in sales, you are missing your true vocation

You always manage to bring the topic round to having another team, are you on commision

 I just feel sorry for Glynn and want to make sure he doesn't have to get a proper job sometime.

Might be time for Loco to have a reserve team in the NSA, Dave?

Don't work in sales, but I do have an annoying, persistent side to me, as a number of you know! Which reminds me, I must go and PM someone...

Might look at another NSA team when you've got 11 teams as well as me

I like the general theme of this thread, about people taking on more teams. I'm in full agreement. Just the thought of me working in Tesco is enough to bring me out in a rash.
