I'm really thinking of having a single ticket price for SS2. Concessions would work like SS1, but standing prices would be set at something like 75% of the sitting price. The reason I'm considering this is A) Simplicity and B) The issue of people setting one set of prices ridiculously low. Not only has this annoyed the hell out of me over the years (it's basically an exploit) but it makes it difficult to try to get the computer to work out who's going into which stand. Sitting prices at £50, standing prices at £1? Obviously people would choose standing. But then you run out of standing space and they're forced into the sitting spaces (that was how the exploit worked before). This requires extra checks and so on.

So unless anyone is against it, I'm going for a single ticket price, which will be the seating price. Concessions set at 50%, standing set at 75% and standing concessions at 37.5% (they'll be rounded obviously, no pennies in SS2).

Why not just get rid of standing altogether ?

I was thinking about that and I'd prefer to do that. Would it work? I don't think realism is an issue, but it leads to a couple of questions.

What about existing standing if teams are transferred over? Maybe just convert them, 2 to 1, to seats? I'm planning to do away with the whole 'convert seating to standing' concept anyway but this would lead to some oddly numbered stands (i.e you might get a stand with like 1333 seats or something).

I'm actually all for this, it's very messy as it is (although I've just done all the fiddly stuff to get standing and sitting working, but quite happy to remove it again). It'd be much simpler with just seating.

I'll also have to change the existing stands to seating-only stands, so there'd have to be a new set.

So, apart from the converting, anything else we need to look out for?

I think the converting leading to potentially weird numbers is about it.

Maybe just convert to the nearest stand area that equates to a particular band once converted 2 for 1. For example, you have a figure of 1,333 so the system just makes it into 1,500 seats. Some clubs will gain a little bit but hardly a big deal and the reality is an awful lot of sides won't have any standing to convert anyway.

Ok, well I'd much prefer to get rid of standing. It adds nothing to the game except complications, so I'm going to rip out that very fiddly bit of code that I just added where fans decide whether they'd like to stand or sit, then spill over into the other section anyway. Plus it adds loads of extra stuff to save to the database, it can all go. So now we just have seats and only one ticket price.

Will the clubs pay for the conversion from standing to seats?

I wouldn't have thought so, don't think Glynn's intention is to punish any clubs still living in the dark ages :)

No, there'd be no cost. You will be losing half of your capacity though if you have an entire standing stadium, though that's not really a punishment since you get more money from seating tickets anyway. Does anybody actually have a full standing stadium now?

Demolished all my standing, generally do when i get a team.. looks crap though having a 2 sided stadium, but cant afford to rebuild it

Standing is a bit pointless really, as you say you get more from seats anyway

Well, I like the old way and would be happy to see it maintained. It is part of the journey of developing a new team. Like Mike, I've got a few empty stands at a couple of my sides because the money is needed to build the team first.

Yeah that's true if people are close to filling their grounds, but since seats bring in more revenue anyway, they'll end up with around the same amount of money. I'm tweaking the numbers anyway so seating was going to be double the cost of standing, so it would have ended up the same. I do think it's time for a change but I agree that we don't want to punish anyone, especially the smaller teams. I'll have to see how it can be balanced. You definitely won't lose executive boxes, it'll just convert the terraces to seats. Considering that the seats in SS1 only bring in about 1/4 more than the standing, then the conversion ratio may need to be look at - maybe more like a 3 for 4 ratio.

There are limits in SS2. You can't even type in anything below £6 or above £100 and if you somehow do, it'll correct them during the matches anyway.

And I should point out that you lose money either way, unless you're filling your ground.

It is funny in real football there has been increasing talk of bringing back terraces in the English game in last 5 years or so though it is likely to be a good few years away if it does happen.

I personally aspire towards all-seater stadiums with my own clubs from the Dutch Uncles 20,000 all seater to Harlesden Riders 80,0000 stadium.

I personally would like to see more realistic attendances in SS2 i.e. larger fan bases.
