This happens in SS1 right? They get a 1 year contract automatically? It's needed to stop people messing around and constantly transferring players around (would be more of a problem in SS2 without the transfer delay that you get in SS1). I'm thinking of adding a 'Pay off contract' penalty too, though that could have some bad side-effects.

Same league transfers they get automatic one year deals, inter-league deals they get 4 week contracts (1 week counted off by time turns appear).

They'll all be the same thing really in SS2, but I need something to stop people messing around and endlessly transferring players backwards and forwards due to the instant nature of the new system. So I'll go for 1-season contracts upon signing which makes sense anyway. Meaning that if you do transfer them straight back the week after for example, both clubs have had to fork out for a new contract. I could still see people exploiting it, for example for a crucial match, you could theoretically transfer 11 players over, pay the contracts, win the match, then transfer them back. The money might not be as important as the result. Obviously I could put that down as a cheat but some other way of stopping such behaviour might be necessary. Maybe make it impossible to transfer a player until he's got no contract left... although that's a bit prohibitive.

Could same league transfers also have a 3 week contract but also a signing on fee?

It wouldn't be worth it in current game as form resets to aver on transfer - would same occur here and thus deter any exploiting?

Yes, I was thinking that form/fitness/morale reset anyway and that should be enough to deter people from doing it.

Dave, why the 3 week contract and also a signing on fee? You mean just as an extra payment? So like, they pay for the 3 weeks, instead of getting it free? It's actually 4 weeks by the way but by the time you see it on your turnsheet, it's already counted down to 3.

Seems messy and unnecessary to be honest. By all means make same and I/L deal the same (either pay for a year's contract or don't) but adding on a signing on fee (something we don't have in the game at present as the "fee" is the one year contract on same league deals) seems pointless. The reset of form and morale was always enough in SS1 and now you are resetting fitness too that really has to be a clear enough deterrent I would have thought ?
