So from a SS point of view, would it be badly unrealistic if the suspensions were competition based? Didn't it used to be this way in football or have I imagined it? For SS2, comp-based would be far better I think for the reasons I mentioned above. Plus it seems right to me because it can affect other teams from other competitions? I assume there's a reason it's done that way irl but for SS2, unless there's some reason I haven't thought of, comp-based suspensions makes far more sense.

It did used to be comp based (and is in some countries still) so I can't see why anyone would have an issue with it being that way in SS2, particularly as by doing it that way it avoids unnecessary issues.

Even by your low standards that joke is poor, and certainly not a cut above the rest.

Sorry jumping in here, but It is my belief that suspensions are often governing body based. So for example an FA Suspension runs across all FA governed games. A UEFA suspension goes across UEFA games (Champ League etc)

So realistically all SLFA suspensions should run across all SLFA Competitions. However as we have already said, SS is not supposed to be realistic.

I am going to go off on a tangent here, so apologies, however I feel the best option is the easiest, I have always been an advocate of making SS2 superb with loads of great new features etc etc, however whilst trialling it, I realised I like simplicity, too many things to worry about and do makes me less likely to do it.

At end of day I now realise that SS1 does exactly what I want to do, minus knowing who assisted my goals and a few more sub options etc. I was always concerned when people wanted to keep it as close to SS1 as possible, but after being back for a year or two I now realise everyone is right! and I was wrong..

Sorry I will be quiet now. :)

That was my point re suspensions Ben, except I tried to keep it simple (for Woody) by just referring to this country (we could get technical about the league cup but the who cares about that comp anyway  ). :)

League Cup?? What's that... Mickey Mouse Cup? Rumbelows Cup, Milk Cup, Freight Rover Trophy.... :)

Same here Ben, I wanted it to be super-complex with loads of new features but I've been convinced that that was a bad idea and now I'm working on it in it's new form (basically SS1 with fixes and a few additions) I prefer it this way too. It's possible to put stuff in behind the scenes anyway without actually making it more complicated. This sub idea for example will probably be easier for the manager than SS1, whilst at the same time giving more control.

So we're all happy with me doing competition-based suspensions? It'd be the usual 3-match ban for a red card (league), 1 match ban after 3 yellow cards (league) and a 1 match ban for a red card in a cup. And should it all clear for the new season?

It's the whole realism argument isn't it..

As bans would carry across seasons usually....

OK Say it's last game of the season, I set a player to Hack Down an opponent (assuming that this is a possible order) player I hacked down gets injured for 10 weeks and my player gets red card. It would be a bit unfair if my player was then available to play the following week, as his suspension was cancelled, yet the injury would still be there!

Agree with Ben, shouldn't be wiped at the end of a season. Maybe have the system wipe all points except those accrued for a red card.

Two things. Why a different length of ban for a red card in the cup compared to the league ? Should be the ame as the offence is the same.

Also the number of yellows to a ban depends a lot on how frequent yellow cards are as 3 yellows seems a tad low unless cards are relatively rare. Would have thought 5 yellows for a ban and then for the psycho offenders a second ban after another 3 cards (so a ban then after 8, 11 etc)

Ok, don't need to wipe them at the end of the season and thinking about it, there's no 'real' mid-season break in SS, you basically start again next week so yes, the wipe seems like a bad idea.

I was thinking 3 suspensions in a cup seems a bit heavy considering there are only 6 rounds. But hey, why not? Shouldn't get sent off :P

I think 3 yellows then a 1-match ban works as it's simple. It 'should' work like that in SS1 right, 7 points for a yellow and a ban at 21 points? Not sure it ever triggers though.

Err, things are confused somewhere.

You are having bans go across comps so the number of rounds in the cup has no bearing in length of suspension for a red card because if a player gets a red card in the cup he will be missing the upcoming league games (and vice-versa - a red card in the league could mean being banned for an upcoming cup tie).

The points doesn't work either as in SS1 7 points is a red card award, it's 3 points for a yellow. If carried over that is 7 bookings for a suspension, not 3.

SS does trigger suspensions for reaching 21 points but to get there you do it at 7 for a red, 3 for a yellow.

No I was saying I don't want it to go across comps. So a ban in the cup only leads to bans in that cup.

Right, 3 for a yellow, 7 for a red. That does ring a bell now. Seems a bit lenient to me or do you think it's ok? If it's never cleared then I suppose it's ok, but if it's cleared at the end of a season, I'd be surprised if it triggered very often.
