A place in the World Cup final against Loxley Elite was up for grabs here today, and both teams were understandably nervous. AEL, who weren't expected to reach this stage went up against Quartz Elite, who've been impressive all the way through and were the favourites to win today.

Things looked to be going to form early on, when Quartz Elite snatched an early lead, midfielder Conrad Bannero swerving in directly from a free kick outside the box.

AEL struggle to get back into the game and had some good attacks, but couldn't get a clear shot at goal, and they went into the break still a goal down.

In the second half it was much of the same. AEL tried everything to break down the QE defence, but never really looked like scoring. With time ticking away, AEL began pushing players forward and gaps began to open up in their defence. QE took advantage and broke away towards the end, a flowing move ending with a simple tap-in for Martin Jenkins, sparking scenes of wild celebration from the QE fans.

It ended 2-0, and Quartz Elite now meet Loxley Elite in the first Soccer Star World Cup final.
